What's New at IAFF 4606
MDA Boot Drive

Posted On: Nov 11, 2011 (07:14:38)

We will once again be participating in a boot drive for MDA on Black Friday.  If you are available to help out, please contact Weger about what you can do.  I believe we are going to try and get people out earlier this year, since the stores at the Alcoa Exchange and Walmart will be opening earlier.  We hope to get as much coverage as possible and Weger will be working on getting some sort of shifts arranged so we can be out there longer to collect as much money as possible.

B Shift will be on duty Black Friday, so if you are on A shift or C shift, let Weger know as soon as you can if you plan on helping out.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Updated On: Sep 09, 2011 (09:30:00)

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will be held this year on Oct. 24th.  We are working on getting a ladder truck to send to the race to raise the flag and need some folks to go out and support and entertain the participants.  A Shift is on duty that day so if you are on B or C shift, volunteer your time for a great cause!  If you are on A shift and would like to participate, I'm sure there are some folks on the other shifts that would be willing to do a shift swap to make it happen.

See your shift steward if you need any other information.

Susan G Koman Donation

Updated On: Feb 01, 2011 (10:22:00)

The four wheeler raffle was a great success as a fund raiser and donation to a worthy cause. Over the course of this year our guys have been to every big event we could get to and pushed ticket sales. With Race for the Cure finally here, we were able to borrow a truck and set up on a corner along the race route. Our guys handed out beads and hats to show their support for the racers and drew the winners name live on THV channel 7 news. Bryant Professional Firefighters local 4606 was extremely proud to present a check to the Susan G. Koman foundation for $13,000. We look forward to finding another project next year that will allow us to make a similar contribution to a very worthy cause.

We currently have a few events scheduled to attend and sell tickets for the raffle. If you haven't signed up to help out, please contact Ryan McCormick or your shift steward and pitch in. So far we are doing a good job, with a just over $11,000 raised, but we could definitely use more help.

2009 MDA Boot Drive

Updated On: Dec 03, 2009 (15:16:00)

UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone involved, we exceeded our goal with a grand total of $9100.00.  A big thank you to everyone that braved the early morning cold and traffic to make this possible.

We will be participating in a boot drive on Friday, Nov. 27 to raise money for MDA in conjunction with  Bryant FD and MDA.

C Shift will be on duty that day, so we would appreciate anybody from A and B shift that have time to help out.  If you would like to spend time with your family after the holiday, bring them along and support a good cause.  Any help would be most appreciated.  This year, Chief Cox has also approved the use of two apparatus and their crews to assist with the drive.

Right now we are looking to cover a couple intersections in the city, and with the traffic associated with the traditional first day of the Christmas shopping season we hope to have a decent turnout and raise some money for a very good cause.  Last year we raised approx. $7,000 and we among the top 10 fund raisers for the state.  This year our goal for the fundraiser is $8,000.

If you have the time to contribute, please contact Josh Hunter.
